Award winning Nigerian singer, Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, popularly known as Bella Shmurda, has taken to the micro-blogging platform to reflect on becoming successful in the Nigerian music industry.
The singer who revealed that he now has 550 million streams on all platforms, revealed that he would have still been at Lagos state university where he was an undergraduate student, wining and dining with carryovers and stranded with nothing in his pocket.
His E.P, High Tension 2.0, had been well received by fans after it garnered over 100 million streams across all streaming platforms after just two months of its release.
Bella Shmurda, who rose to fame with his hit track Vision 2020, on which he later featured multiple award-winning rapper Olamide on the remix and expressed his gratitude to the rapper for giving him the chance and opportunity to work with him. He also did not forget to thank popular dancer and hype man Poco lee for his unrelenting support and encouragement to take on music and pursue a career in it.
Bella Shmurda expressed his gratitude for taking the risk of pursuing a career in music, despite the fact that things appeared bleak from the start.
Aside from being the only Nigerian artist to be inducted into the YouTube Foundry Program, Bella Shmurda has also bagged notable awards like the “Next Rated” and “Street Music of the Year” with the hit song “Cash App” featuring Zlatan at the City People Entertainment awards within a short span of his music career that kicked off in 2018.
Within the short span of his music career, Bella Shmurda has been able to receive notable recognition for his talent, with collaborations with Davido, a guest performance at the 02 arena with Wizkid, and other notable mentions in the music industry. He still shows no signs of slowing down with his music, as he is expected to release a new song and video on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
