Mohammad Malik, a 29-year-old man who had put up billboards across London and Birmingham in England, owing to his quest to find a partner has reportedly received over 1000 applications from hopeful bachelorettes.
On the streets of London and Birmingham, Mohammad Malik can be seen lying across huge billboards directing suitors to his website: Findmalikawife.com.
Visiting his page, a video of him pops up as he says:
“Hi, I’m Malik. You may have seen my face on a billboard somewhere.
“I’m 29, live in la vida London. I’m an entrepreneur and a foodie and I’m religious. I am looking for someone who is working on her deen [Arabic meaning religion].
“I am open to any ethnicity but come from a loud Punjabi family, so the banter has to be 100.
“If you’re interested, fill out the form and check out my details.”
Speaking to BBC Asia, Muhammad explained his reasons behind his quest to find Mrs Right. He said:
“I just haven’t found the right girl yet. It’s tough out there. I had to get a billboard to get seen.
“My ideal partner would be a Muslim woman in her 20s, who’s striving to better her deen.”
“I’m an only child and look after my mom and dad. If this is a deal-breaker I don’t think it’ll work out.”
Why Speaking in an interview with VICE, Muhammad Malik who is an entrepreneur stated that a friend who is into marketing suggested the idea to him.
According to him, he has received over 1,000 applications from potential matches after making the announcement a week ago.
He said,
“There’s definitely no timeframe. For me it was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek thing that ‘2022 is the year’, but it doesn’t have to be. I have a strong belief in predestination, that things are written and not to worry.
I think it’s really important to have that genuine connection with somebody because we’re looking to leave a legacy behind us.”
“It might be a bit of a culture shock for people, but for me that would be to meet in a setting where it isn’t just us, but there are also family members around.
That’s the Islamic way to go about it – there’s always someone there as a chaperone. That would be perfect. And I’m obviously open to anything, it could be crazy golf, or literally just staying at home.”
